Day 1: Experimentation

We just downloaded Second Life. My colleague and I created our accounts, with eager intentions to corrupt the world we entered.  Despite our friends' snicker of disapproval at our choice of entertainment, my friend and I made characters on the game anyways. With the intention of being inconspicuous, I created Jennifer5656, an attractive Negro-American female. My colleague named his avatar Tickle Pickle. We skipped through the tutorial. Both of us are experienced gamers, so we wanted to jump right into the action.

Using our in-game flight mode, we traveled to an unknown island, not sure of what we were supposed to be doing. The place looked desolate. Perhaps the club was where we could find civilization. Though the psychedelic disco dance floor was empty, we figured out how to dance. Quickly people came, and started to watch us boogie. We conversed in the public chat, but to no avail. No one responded to either of us except for the other. Our attempts at breaking the silence through small talk and seduction fell flat. One man turned into a motorcycle. The crowd watched us. We became uneasy. It felt as though they enjoyed watching our avatars boogie. Being the center of attention is too much pressure for the first day in a new place. We ejected.
